You may have tried either the Showbox or the Chromecast app. But did you know that together they’re unbeatable. If you have both, keep reading for how to connect them together for the ultimate experience via your Android device.
Showbox and Chromecast: A History
Showbox is a South Korean company that offers movie streaming from an easily downloaded app. In fact, it’s one of the most popular streaming apps out there. It became hugely popular very quickly. Why? Mostly because a lot of the content featured on it is free. Also, its selection of movies is awesome! It has movies literally from all genres, which will appeal to everyone. You can pick anything from kid friendly to action classics. Imagine this huge selection all for free!
Chromecast is a brainchild of the great Google Company. It first came onto the market in July of 2013. With it, you can plug it right into your TV for instant access to programs like Netflix and Hulu. If you want to put it on a device, there are both Android and iPhone apps available to appeal to all users. A warning: this one does come with a price tag of $35. But it’s a small price to pay for all that it can offer to you. But this is a great way to link all of your devices through one app and product.
These are great, reliable products, which are nice separately, but even better together! Using them both will easily solve any streaming need that you might have been in search of.
A Few Small Technical Details
So you’ve got a fairly inexpensive television adapter combined with a free movie-streaming product. How much better does it get? It doesn’t. Let’s get them running together so you can see what they’re really made out of. Now, in order to make sure that these two work, you will need to take a few preemptive steps. Have an Android phone or other device? Make sure it’s running KitKat or at least the latest software version. Further, make sure you set it to work with “unknown sources” in your Settings. Next, make sure that you have a good Internet connection. Not that most people don’t, but if you’re in an unsure area you may have issues.
Apps You’ll Need Prior to Use
Just a heads up, you will need to download three apps in order to make this work properly. Get these going before you want to start up your movie night. Don’t worry; they’re all easily available in the apps store. First and foremost, make sure that you have Showbox downloaded previously, or set to downloading it now.
Next, you’ll need to download Allcast Premium. This one is available in the Google Play Store. It will cost you a whole $4.99 for the download. Double check that it is fully installed before you proceed with the set up. This is the second most important step to our process-after Showbox and Chromestick, of course.
The last app that you’ll need is GrowBox’s APK. This one is available for free in the Google Play Store. Make sure that it is installed as well or it will slow you down in the set up process. Once it is installed, make sure it is running in the background to avoid any programs not working or connecting the way that they were intended.
Combining the Two Powerhouses
Ready to see the power of your Chromecast and Showbox working together? Wait no more! Take a look at the steps below to get everything up and running. You will not be disappointed.
Have your Chromecast stick plugged in and your Internet connection working for both Showbox and Chromecast. It does help if you can connect them to the same Internet connection.
Get Showbox open and running on your phone. Once it’s ready to go, search for and select the movie that you want to watch. Most important, make sure that you’re selecting one which has streaming available. If not, it’ll slow you down in another step. Once you’ve selected it, you’ll see a pop up show up on your screen. You will want to select the options for “use internal player” followed by “watch now.”
Lastly, you will want to open Allcast, followed by selecting Chromecast once you are in it. If you picked a movie that is available for streaming in the step above, you should see that it is currently working on your TV. This should be all that you need to make these two products work great together!
Out with the Old and In with the New
The beauty of these two pieces of technology combined may not be news to some of you. If you were using this set up previously, you will find that you no longer need the MX Player. You can go ahead and uninstall this particular feature. You might want to take this off before you get started so that you don’t confuse the program and slow down your set up process. The reason that you will no longer need this is because GrowBox APK works in the same fashion as an MX Player. One less thing to worry about!
The Benefits of Having These Two
You might be thinking this is a lot of work to get these two going together. And while it may seem like a lot of steps, but think of the advantages that come along with using this new technology. This set up will cost you under fifty bucks including all of the necessary downloads! Plus, now you can stream all of those great movies you wanted to watch for free-no more subscription fees. But if you do want to keep up with your subscription services, or be able to access YouTube on your TV, your Chromecast has just made this completely accessible for you. It is a huge investment for a little bit of work!
